The Church will be undergoing a Spring cleaning this upcoming week. Two things will occur:
~Archiving old post from the Corrupt Confessional
~Removing private messages
The archiving may be done this weekend or next. This will not interfere nor affect the daily goings-on here.
The removal of PMs
WILL AFFECT everyone. This will be done on the weekend of
June 12th-14th. If there are important messages you wish to keep, a way to save them has been implemented. The removal process will delete messages older than 14 days, and will continue to remove message after that date range. I did not want to restrict members from the amount of messages they can receive. Doing so will give a sender a message stating that the other member's box is full. That's just not cool to see if someone spent their time composing the message and may not have any other way of contacting the member.
This is what a forum owner had posted for their board regarding saving a PM:
Members can save PMs individually or all their PMs into a single HTML file. It is possible to save the Inbox and Outbox in separate HTML files. It is NOT possible at this time to select a set of PMs to save to an HTML file.
Please be aware of the following points regarding this feature:
~This MOD will NOT delete PMs. It only copies them into an HTML file on your machine,
unless there are embedded images. In that case it will load the page into your browser and
allow the browser to do the save, which will then capture all the images into the HTML file.
After one has captured individual PMs or all of them, it is up to you to do the deletions, if that
is your intent.
~IMPORTANT: If you have a lot of PMs you may get an error message. The likely cause will be
that the forum is too busy. In that case, waiting until the forum is pretty much idle improves
chances of downloading all the PMs.
How Does It Work?
* Saving A Single PM
When you look at the text of each PM you will see a new choice in the upper right corner,
next to the Quote, Modify, and Remove commands, called "Save PM". This will create an
HTML file of that specific PM (the number of the PM is used as the filename, to prevent over-
writing previously saved PMs).
* Saving All PMs
In the "Messages" command box to the left of the list of PMs is a new command, "Save all PMs".
This will list all your PMs, starting with the earilest, with lines between each PM.
I would also like to add that in order to save
ALL your messages, first choose your 'Inbox', save... then choose 'Outbox', and save.
When testing this, I tried to "display" what will be saved, but get an error message. Therefore, I was forced to save it directly to my workstation and opened it to make sure it saved correctly (and how I knew you had to be in each *box to save EVERYTHING). This error message may have just been me. I tested this on a Linux system, not Windows nor Mac. So, perhaps you won't have an issue on displaying before saving.
