I just finished watched this film... and I don't think I'll ever watch it again.  I didn't find it as shocking as I thought I would.  Nevertheless, there is nothing in this film that would bring me back.  Kind of a "seen it... done it..." kind of thing.  I keep asking myself why I wasn't more disturbed by the film.  The material is definitely disturbing.  Maybe it was the protective frame of mind I was in when I watched it (after hearing how 'its the most repulsive film ever made').  Part of me also thinks it was the execution as I couldn't find myself getting into the film.  Overall... I think the hype of the film killed it for me the most.

Very minor reveal.  The only scene that I had heard about was the "infant" scene.  And I figured out the final reveal as soon as the scene's setting was shown.

Well... at least I don't need to go take a shower now.  But I might go "freshen up".

just finished it. i thought it was awesome. very well made. i will agree that it was totally predictable, i definately knew what was gonna happen every step of the way, but i enjoyed the ride, none-the-less.
i'm actually gonna burn it now so that chris can watch it. i'm really curius what his thoughts will be.

I've got a date with A Serbian Film here soon! Friend and I are going to check it out. Hard-subbed, too. That shit is going straight onto the big screen plasma. We will double or maybe triple feature it with the following films:
Tideland
Mudhoney
Santa Sangre
Bohachi Bushido
Nemesis


I'll be back 'round to share the sentiments on this... film that has managed to seemingly wow the unwowable.

Spoilers...

More comments... after thinking about the film more throughout the day.

In thinking back on the film, there were quite a few scenes that had me laughing to myself (dark humor of course).  The one that comes to mind the most was when the main character is reviewing the tapes and he sees the "henchman" rape him.  I think it was the expression on the henchman's face that did it.

I only see Jaffe's comment, but I did find moments of black laughter throughout the picture.

I laughed when he went he went out for a run just before he started to work on the flim. Now, normally a person jogging on film wouldn't carry so much comedic weight for me, but all I kept thinking about was...

When I hear that a film is shocking I always go in with a heavy dose of skepticism and usually, even though my expectations are low, I still come out disappointed, but not with this film. This film isn't just so shocking because of the extreme scenes, it also has a very good build up, so you start to care for the characters. Just a very good film overall, definitely recommended.
