Yikes at the last comment. I'm sure it was lovingly directed.

So, I saw this a few months ago.

Here I am, in the minority again. The film failed to impress me. I enjoyed it, but I'm not gonna sit here and praise it. I recommend it to anyone who needs the simulated rape fix, dough.

I'd probably lean more towards I Stand Alone more so than Irreversible personally. The absolutely filthy characterization of 'The Butcher' in ISA really hit hard with me--although Irreversible was a much different monster on its own. To be politically correct around here, it's fair to say I enjoyed both very much on their own individual merits but the two films are very much separate from each other and shouldn't really be compared to one another...despite the continuation of 'The Butchers' character in Irreversible.

Time destroys everything...

I agree there's really no comparing the 2 films but I found that I Stand Alone dragged a bit in the middle.

eh, just don't consume any mind-altering subs the first go-round. I had to rewind and rewatch some scenes cause the camera flies around in so many different die-rections. You can never really get a good shot, once inside the gay bathhouse / lounge or whatever.

All I have to say is, Monica Bellucci deserves an academy award for that rape scene. Jesus Christ, how can someone act a scene like that as well as she did? That scene makes me sick. Especially the second half of it.  >:(

Irreversible is a great movie, but very very sad. I wish it didn't happen the way it did, but it wouldn't be what it is if it didn't. If only Monica didn't decide to listen to that stupid bitch that told her to take the short cut. =(

I enjoyed this movie a lot in college (as much as you can enjoy a film with a 10-minute rape scene), but it did kind of blow its proverbial wad in the first 20 or so minutes. I guess the nudity on the latter part of the film helped it chug along to the finish. It's not the type of movie you can watch more than once. Baise-Moi kind of took the same concept, made it campier, and added hardcore sex scenes, but it's a really moronic movie.

I beg to differ.

I guess Monica Bellucci's full frontal nudity is worth seeing more than once.

So does that mean I can finally watch this movie without you complaining the entire time?

My favorite piece was when they were in the taxi and the camera drifts out the front passenger side window and goes through the back side window even though the glare of the glass is still there...

Welcome Kaotik.

My love of Irreversible comes from the swooping intensity of the camerawork. No sense of CG (even though it was used to great effect throughout). You're just dropped in the middle of it all. If you take a look at the 'making of' video I posted in the Enter The Void thread, you'll see his visual flair has increased ten-fold.

I didn't like this film. Everybody talks about the rape scene and how shocking it was but, to me, it just wasn't.  The part after that scene is just boring to me.

Welcome to the board by the way.
