That certainly had a lot to do with it.

I didn't like this film. Everybody talks about the rape scene and how shocking it was but, to me, it just wasn't. The part after that scene is just boring to me.
Welcome to the board by the way.
Ah you poor bastard. The entire package is beyond my wildest dreams. As Kev said, Noe is "The master of the Out of Body Experience illusion".
Have you seen his earlier stuff, Demo? Carne, I Stand Alone?

I've seen his entry in Destricted (2006) but none of his other feature length films. I have 'I Stand Alone' on my harddrive but for some reason it won't work on the xbox so I'll have to watch it on my tiny pc monitor some day.
But.. 'The master of out of body experience illusion'? He's the master of shaking the camera around like he's having a fucking seizure. But whatever.. I'll go into his other work with an open mind.

It's not as seizure-induced as you make it out to be, at least in my estimation. It is very calculated. Corroborated with the action on screen, and as the movie winds down, as does the camera. It's very hypnotic to say the least.

Absolutley. When I first watched it, I was all "WTF?" but as the film progresses you can see the reasoning behind it.

Besides the masturbation that ensued during the rape scene (yep, still sporting a vag) I was bored. Hype can be a sad thing

Well, what were you expecting? Just an overall shock film?
