Don't even try and buy this movie right now - a new uncut release is in production at the moment: )

Here's an exert from the Thundercrack! website:
Quote
Celebrating the 1975 film that has become a counterculture classic and a midnight favorite in art houses across the U.S. and Europe this web site is dedicated to the ever-growing legions of Thundercrack fanatics. From the unique genius team of director Curt McDowell and screenwriter George Kuchar Thundercrack! has garnered only the most extreme praise or vile hatred from critics including: "Thundercrack! is an awful sexpo spoof that suggests Russ Meyer trying to do a Tennessee Williams subject" (Daily Variety) and "Without question Thundercrack! is one of the great underground sleaze epics and a touchstone for all independent filmmakers to come" (Steven Puchalski).

Now for the first time the legal owners of Thundercrack are offering the authorized uncut version digitally remastered straight from the film. There are a host of bootleg versions out on the internet and Ebay that are only copies of copies. So much of the photographic quality and original footage is sacrificed: almost a half an hour of inspired film-making you don't want to miss. Plus you'll find out more than you ever wanted to know about the film, from behind the scenes commentary, to trivia regarding certain infamous artifacts used in the film, interviews, trailers and other shorts.

This is the Official high quality collector’s edition DVD remastered from the original film
Includes a one-of-a-kind trailer, interviews, commentary and other short films
Original 152 minutes of footage --- 32 minutes more than the film seen at theatres
One of the most walked out on films of all time. Once Banned in the United Kingdom

Stop wondering what it would be like to own McDowell and Kuchar's marvel, see it in its original length and clarity, order your collector's edition today.

MUST SEE TO BELIEVE. These words above are not an exaggeration. Here is the link to the webby site:

I'll post my own review after I watch it again.

So, you figure I should hold off on watching my sub-par bootleg and patiently await the release of this DVD for my inaugural viewing? Or dive in head first into this tepid pool of piss and vomit right away as there really is little indication on that website when this DVD will actually be released.

Well, from what I can see the version I have is completely uncut. However, the quality is pretty awful and the website does boast that this impending DVD is a print straight from the source...it may be worth the wait for the full experience.

I'll just wait for this DVD release. I've had Thundercrack for god knows how long and it was suppose to be an uncut version, but then shortly found it there is an even further uncut version. So...I've waited this long, waiting a few months or however long it'll take for the DVD to come out doesn't seem like a bad idea.

Plus it'll save my ratio on CG from downloading a 2nd version of it.

I hope it doesn't turn into a Barrel situation with the Der Todesking release. 5+ years in the making and we're still waiting for it.

No kidding.

I'm curious as to what is going on with Barrel Entertainment since a majority of their titles are now OOP and they haven't made a peep about anything in god knows how long.

...yet the website is still active and is being updated regularly. A very strange case indeed. I'm half-tempted to email them to unravel the riddle known as 'Barrel Entertainment' but I'm certain I'll get a generic PR response.

This has been a "future release" for quite an extended duration. In all thi=

What did I just watch? Honestly? What purpose did it serve?

A completely other-worldly exploitative sexually deviant adventure far beyond my imagination. Pitted from the very depths of Dante's second circle. So bizarre that words can not begin to describe what I was just witness to.

Alright...now that the melodrama is done with, let's get to brass tacks here: a beautifully detailed and completely absurd premise is what we're looking at. Dialogue and characterization that would make an early John Waters hang his head in shame. Many unspeakable sexual acts of any ilk that would make the most liberal out there question their current position.

Throughout the entire thing, I just shook my head in disbelief...wondering...What In The Fuck Am I Watching?.

Much recommended for the curious of film outside of this very dimension...cliched? sure. But it does point across the obvious.

I hope this DVD comes out within the next few years.

Purpose: to entertain with straight up trashy antics. I love the old coot's monologues and the usage of the general dialogue. Never have I bore witness to so much nonchalant wordy swap while in positions of copulation or foreplay.

Anyways, it was a barrel of fun for a friend and I. Completely wacko.

I need to transcribe some of her words for this thread and see how well they translate without her complimenting such brilliant gibberish.
