Graham let me know what you thought of Pulp when you are done.. It makes me sad that pulp is the only real "fiction" book he wrote.

I know they are all technically fiction, but i don't think i need to explain myself  :/

I wouldn't even consider Pulp to be fictitious. Just Bukowski role-playing himself if he happened to be a private-eye with some pretty grande symbolism of his ever-nearing death when he wrote it.
I really dug it, as I inevitably would. Poetically sleazy and hateful as only Bukowski could put it. Now I await the arrival of the Red Sparrow to swallow me up in all her glory...much like Bukowski waited for his 70-odd years on earth.

I am now reading Bukowski's Women, and Let The Right One In. Given the speed I am reading both of these (LtROI at home. Women at work), I should have them both finished in a month or two  :/

Y'know, Graham, I realized the other day while reorganizing my book shelf that I still have a book that belongs to you. The Demon, by Hubert Selby JR. I remember providing my opinion on it here a while back--didn't care for it that much (though I love Selby's writings in general--or at least the adaptations of his writings, esp. Requiem For A Dream).

I'll get the book back to you. Was this an exchange or just a straight-out loan? I don't remember.

Ahh. Totally forgot about that. I think it was a loan. I reorganized my bookshelf the other day as well and didn't notice anything of yours.

Yeah, I figured as much. I'll get it back to you anyway. I travel to your area once in a while--maybe we can meet up. Anyway, anything more about that should probably be through PM.

Haunted America

I think I have that one. No. Wait. I have Haunting in the Heartland: Hauntings in America's Mid-West.
I'm assuming Haunted America is a collection of testimonials from various paranormal occurrences?

Yes, I think it's the sequel to Haunting in the Heartland. Or Haunted Heartland--whatever. I guess it's a bunch of stories about various ghostly incidents supposed to have occurred throughout the US and Canada.

Anyway, it was mentioned in another book that I had recently read--The Best Horror of the Year--wherein they listed the best horror novels of the year before going on to present the best short stories. So I remembered it from that, and snatched it up.

Finally finished Let The Right One In. Fantastic book. Just fantastic. Much better than the movie in a lot of respects. I particularly liked Virginia's plight and her struggle with her disease...shame the movie glossed over it for the most part.
I am nearly done with Bukowski's Women. And am now starting on McCarthy's Child of God.

Finished The Hellbound Heart. Great book.

Went to buy Let Me In, but it had the film on the cover.. so there goes that idea.
