Yeah, Nance got the set for Xmas. I'm really digging the shit outta the series, and want to read the books. But, their size is daunting to say the least.

Ya... I started mine just after Xmas and am about 3/4 through.  It is very good thought.  I don't think I'll start reading the second book until the second season of the show starts (or ends).  I need a break in between.

I'm No Saint: A Nasty Little Memoir of Love and Leaving by Elizabeth Hayt (Non-Fiction)

I like this author's balls-out, take-no-prisoners attitude. She doesn't hold back on the punches--i.e. truth.

SYNOPSIS:
Elizabeth Hayt entered her marriage with reservations. Once there, she found herself drowning in an ocean of wifely and motherly duties, and at 35, felt there had to be more to life. But she was terrified when her husband announced their marriage was over. She responded by ricocheting from one high-powered man to another in a post-marital celebration of dating that rivals anything Samantha Jones had to offer. From stripteases before media moguls to attempts at reaching the emotional core of Manhattan's most lusted-after bachelors, Elizabeth revels in revealing the sex life of true players in the sexual politics of New York before finding love in a truly unlikely candidate, and more importantly, finding her own identity and self-esteem in the process.

From Publishers Weekly:
What keeps the reader's interest from page one of this fiery memoir is not the explicit sex scenes or the family drama, but an admiration for Hayt's sheer chutzpah in jumping into life headfirst. Now in her mid-40s, the author, who writes for the New York Times, among other publications, considers no detail sacred as she recounts her failed marriage (she was 35 when she and her husband separated; 43 when they finalized the divorce), and her numerous subsequent sex partners, cosmetic surgery and trials as a mother and emerging writer and art critic. While it may be hard for some to respect a person whose activities are fueled not only by desire but also by drugs, Hayt's honesty about her struggles as a woman who married early without a chance to discover her own path in life will resonate with many. As Hayt hits bottom with an addiction to cocaine, a love lost and a master's thesis due, she wonders if "anyone else was as sick of listening to me as I was." Luckily for readers, Hayt decided to pursue her dream of writing with a passion she once directed toward her love of excess. This memoir will speak to women who have taken on society's role as "wife, mother, and teacher" only to feel as though they were "passive concessions to someone else's expectations."

Honestly, i'm not super wild about it...I'm only half way finished & it's been a month.  If it would have grabbed me, i would have finished quite some time ago.
I donno, maybe crazy errant knights just aren't my dig...

Ha! Finally remembered my log-in after going back through this thread. Guess it has been this long, but fear not, I am back.

And I am now reading Don Quixote. I quite like it, looking to knock it off the list at any rate.

Just finished In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin, which was awesome. About the American Ambassador who is appointed to Germany as Hitler takes power. Great stuff.

They're well worth the investment. And the lineages at the back of the book help for sure. Really got through the second one quickly, thought it was even better than the first. Have heard the third is good but the fourth disappoints. Am going to get to them eventually.

Re-read The Name Of The Wind recently, which is the debut fantasy novel of one Patrick Rothfuss. It wasn't as good as I remembered it, but it was still a decent read.

Currently re-reading Stephen King's Roadwork and some non-fiction.

What, and give up the 106 posts that I have reached? Not a chance. What was tripping me up was the fact that this here site allows spaces in your log-in name. That's some space age Internetting right thurrr.

Now if only I could remember how to embed a YouTube video...

Hey MENSA, the password wasn't the problem, which is why on my post I said I forgot my 'log-in.' You see, every log-in is unique to a user and has a corresponding password. I could remember the password, but not the log-in name.

Huh. I thought the YT was something simple, but not that simple. I'm always trying to make things hard on myself. Hence all the time on the Internets! HOHO!

I must have tried every damn embed button.

I feel this interaction can only strengthen the creative tension and rapport that will ensure positive interactions between us moving forward.

Now that we have brought this to a pleasing resolution for all, I suggest we get this thread back on topic. What are you reading?

Pretty much the same shit I posted before, except I finished Black Easter. Not as awesome as to justify how hard it was to track down. The black magick bits weren't nearly as pronounced as the backlash leads one to believe. There was a bit of controversy as Blish was alleged to use segments of actual black magick rituals from various grimoires in the story. There's hardly anything there.

Reading Zealtor off and on. The guy's a nutjob, but not in a train wreck entertaining sort of way. And he's always referring to himself as "we"...

Finished Roadwork as well as all 20 (twenty) pages of Plato's Apology.

Currently I am re-reading Nabokov's Lolita. I really have to start reading some of his other works one of these days.
