What story is this?

I read a short story many years ago--sort of half and half sci-fi and horror--in which suicide booths were as plentiful as telephone booths within this particular futuristic society. People made use of the suicide booths constantly--it was no big deal. Folks just went in there and were disintegrated, or whatever, and no one thought anything about it.

Kurt Vonnegut's short story I think. In his collection called Welcome to the Monkey House, story by the same name.

Actually, it appears that you may both be wrong. Someone else says it's from The King in Yellow. I uess is some sort of fucked-up book published aroung 1900 or something.Must exploit my internet ac

With regard to the OP, I now believe it is part of a book called The King in Yellow, a collection of horror stories published in 1895 (according to Wikipedia). I think I read this particular excerpt in a best-of anthology several years ago.
P.S.--keyboard seems fine now. Maybe I spilled something on it that night.
