I happened to catch this movie--a cartoon--on the Space Channel the other day. I was interested to see how they would make Wonder Woman interesting.

I have to admit, they did a pretty good job. Wonder Woman's origins are based in Greek legend, and they made good use of it, with Ares, the God of War, wanting to overtake Earth and all. Surprisingly, this is an adult movie, wherein people do indeed die--sometimes horribly--there are many sexual references--there's even an army of rotted zombies.

I don't really like cartoons. When I was a kid, I loved them, but nowadays, I can't stand to watch them. I've never seen any of the Pixar movies. I watched this one because I thought, well, how can they possibly make a good movie about Wonder Woman. They actually did. Not a great movie, by any means, but surprisingly good.

Never heard of any of those. The last animated movies I really became excited about seeing were Akira and Heavy Metal (the latter due to its eventual release on VHS, something like 15 years later--I'd seen it as a kid on Super-Channel).

But, of course, I'm always willing to try new things, especially if they are non-family friendly.

These are Adult Swim series (except Drawn Together), not movies and definitely not family friendly.

The majority of the DC cartoon movies put out of late have been exceptional. I would talk about all of them more extensively, though I assumed no one here would give a shit.. So thanks for the review, glad you got some enjoyment out of it.. Me and my wife Own it on Blu_ray so we have given it multiple views.

I really dig WW and the comics, and have always found her interesting. You just have to read the write stories, she, much like superman, is a very hard character to write, and often people fuck it up.. I've probably read more WW then any other hero simply because of my wife's love for all things WW.. we even got a few statues of her kicking around our apartment..

I think the only Wonder Woman comics I ever bought were the ones drawn by George Perez, of Teen Titans fame. I think Perez wrote them as well. Nice artwork--terrible writing. Terrible, brutally-bad fucking writing. I think I bought two of them, just for the art, but I couldn't handle the writing any more--it was like Chinese water torture trying to read that stuff.

agreed, and thanks for actually replying.. not that I imagine you will go out and actively seek wonderwoman comics, but anything written by Greg Rucka has been Phenomenal.

I've been out of comics for many years, but I still check out various comic book boards on the net out of curiousity, so I have heard of this Rucka guy.

I still occasionally visit comic book shops and buy a few comics here and there, but no mainstream stuff. All those mainstream superhero titles are always in the midst of some lengthy storyline or crossover or whatever, and I don't have the patience for that sort of thing that I once did.

So are people that give a shit about super heroes.

it's all based off of various archetypes from early stories/religious beliefs. the Greek and Norse gods are heavily reflected in modern comic books,  as well as throughout pop culture, some of which you consume, what is a super hero is an arguable point, but it is definitely not exclusive to costumed super powered beings... You are choosing to be selective in your labeling just to bash something you don't understand, so fuck you.. lol

and it's heroes not heros..  ::)
