I have finally, finally, almost completed enough songs for a new album. I’ll be making another handmade solo CD very soon using many of these songs, and some renditions of Swans songs too, and the package will also include a DVD of a few live performances of myself solo. Surprisingly, I think I will also call this collection “I Am Not Insane”.  These songs have been a long time coming. Not to get too personal, but 2 ½ years ago we had a new child appear here, a gift from whatever benevolent forces guide the universe, and that certainly changed things, both in my mind/soul, and the available amount of time to pursue such solitary endeavors as writing, which requires time and focus, neither of which have been available in any measurable quantity until just recently. Those of you that have had children will probably understand. Those of you that haven’t, well, you’re just useless, soulless pods anyway – go die somewhere. Ha ha!  I’ve really tried to overcome barriers and habits in the writing of this material. After just about 30 years of making music, it is a real struggle to get past yourself, believe me. I don’t know if I’ve done that, but I feel honor bound not to rely on old tropes. Hoping I will at least partially succeed in that ambition… Here’s a list of the titles, and below that the words to one song:

…I swear to God I wrote this song without know that indeed there actually is a prison in New Zealand of the same name. I swear.  After writing the song, I googled the name, and there it was. The song’s based on personal experience/memories, using imagination as well. Strange how things work. I came up with that name completely at random… Anyway, once I’ve sold enough copies of the above hand made CD/DVD, I’ll commence making a new studio album. Since some of the songs really lend themselves (or how I view the songs ultimately being arranged, that is) to a (latter period) Swans-like treatment, I am considering the idea of calling the next record a Swans album, or at least some sort of hybrid between Swans and Angels of Light. It might even be like this: Swans/Angels of Light, not sure yet. Then I got to thinking that if this happens, I will probably put together a Swans/Angels Of Light tour. I am even threatening to play some older Swans material as well as Angels material on the tour. We’ll see. I haven’t even contacted the appropriate suspects/musicians/victims yet to contribute. It will NOT be Swans “reuniting” or any crap like that – more carrying forward with the thread from Swans’ Soundtracks For The Blind / Swans Are Dead period, and incorporating what I’ve learned from, and the sensibility of, Angels Of Light as well. But surely, in any event, I am anxious to feel the force of sound abuse/pass through my body again.
