I moved this to The Unholy Sacrament. It is a horror related podcast after all.

I caught wind of this inaugural event the other day and patiently awaited for it. Only got a chance to listen to the first 10 minutes or so. I'll post some thoughts when I am able to finish it.

...and don't expect much of a response to this thread. I think I'm the only person here who really gives a Christ about podcasts. I know Adam did at one point in time, but...you know ::)

No foolin' eh? Good shit. I feel CD is the best of the bunch, so unfortunately you started out at the top...it's only going to get worse from here. And, they don't seem to be doing shows anymore either.

I listen to podcasts rather frequently.  It helps me get through the long drives with work, school, etc.

The only horror-related podcast I've listened to was the Mondo Movie podcast.  It's a British podcast, so it is especially interesting to hear them comment on various British film fests... like Frightfest.

If the only horror related podcast you listen to is Mondo Movies, allow me to recommend some others for your long trips:

The Gentlemens Guide To Midnite Cinema

Destroy the Brain

Cinema Diabolica ( They haven't done a show in about 5 months, but there are around 60 episodes for you to enjoy. One of the best shows out there)

Outside The Cinema

Deadpit Radio (Probably the most un-PC of all horror podcast. A couple of good ol' southern boys bullshitting about horror in the most elementary way possible.)

Bloodtype Online

Sounds good.  I'm almost caught up with the Mondo Movie podcast and keep listening to the radio to 'save' episodes for extremely boring drives.  I'll give a few of those a try sometime.

Well, I finally got around to giving Canadian Ferox a spin during work today.

Ultimately, it was satisfying as a podcast. They hit on a lot of different levels and ran the gamut of all things "cult/horror/exploitation" cinema given the time constraints. They have quite a few different features that stray from the general formula most horror-related podcast adhere to. 'Exploitation Corner', 'VHS Vault', 'Top 10', 'Canadian Indie Spotlight', and 'Two Film Reviews'. But I fear that they may be injecting too many features in a 2.5hr show and will feel the need to rush through something that may need more time to delve into.

Their most interesting feature is the "Canadian Independent Spotlight" where they pick out an up and coming Canadian filmmaker and spotlight their career and the potential behind them. I was happy to see on their inaugural show they choose Ryan Nicholson for their spotlight. I've only seen one of his films, Gutterballs, but it was so fucking good I'll be happy to see what he has in store for us. Nicholson was in Calgary a couple weeks back premiering his latest film Hanger but I was only aware of this after the fact  :/

Both hosts seem fairly well informed, although being superior to the two of them I found myself correcting them time from time. Unfortunately, their humor is pretty mundane...which most of these horror podcasts attempt to get across. Some are naturally talented at it (Deadpit, Cinema Diabolica) and some fail horribly at their forced attempts at crude, or unsophisticated humor (Outside the Cinema, Destroy the Brain). CF falls into the latter category of the two. The humor is not consistently pushed in your face, but when it's there, it stings. I only really smirked when they pulled out the Charles Bronson impression. They even had a pre-recorded bit where they interview Christian Bale and utilize his infamous freakout...so, that gives you an idea of their originality when it comes to the yuk-yuks.

The constant and repetitive Canadian references got old damned quick (how many times can you mention Kraft Diner and Moosehead beer?). An annoyance, but not so much so that I turned it off...something I do with many podcasts that I am sampling throughout the long days at work.

In any event, I'm anticipating a slow, but steady, evolution between the boys and this particular show. It's nice to be with a podcast from show one and listen to the progress as the months and years go on.

Hope you don't mind GIGANTOR, but I am going to transform this thread into a general podcast related thread. If you do mind, let me know and I'll restore this and start a thread of my own...don't like congestion and redundancy around here though.

FEEDBACK, from RM radio fame, has a solo project now called Cinephobia Radio. Only two episodes thus far but very impressive all things considering: first episode is an interview with Malcolm McDowell and the latest episode is an interview with Ray Harryhausen. Pretty damned good as most of these podcasts can not even land an interview with an extra from Friday the 13th despite being "on the air" for many years!
Not sure on what format FEEDBACK is intending with the show, he hasn't specified, but it appears to just be interviews. Hope he branches out and does his commentary because the guy is a genuinely entertaining personality and would like his take on all things cinema!

...even though his show is called "cinephobia". Is he scared to watch movies? Doesn't make much sense. So be it.

And, to anyone that gives a shit, Deadpit is having a 2-part interview with Jim Van Bebber in the coming weeks. Should be real horrorshow considering Bebber doesn't do many interviews. And this one will be 2+ hours!
