I felt the exact same way. First off, kudos to the retrospective look. Secondly, I fucking love every onscreen moment Mary Woronov has. As you say, we knew what was going to happen from the very intro(it VERY MUCH IMPLIED SO). The main character's friend is one of the few people to have logic sense in a film (something like "Remember what we said? Kooky people and we split" an' what ye know? :kaploo-ee on her behalf). That death scene was unexpected and fun. It's insulting that people have tried to convince me that "slowburn" movies are not for me because of my dislike for this movie. Whatever, los putos.

I have House of the Devil sitting on my coffee table as I type this. Will probably viddy it very soon. And will probably refrain from a public opinion to skirt another 'Dance of the Dead' debacle.

Don't listen to these pinko commies; House of the Devil is a decent viewing.

Finished...

I.K.U.
Death Powder
964 Pinocchio
Rubber's Lover
Late Bloomer (again)

Now if only I could get my greasy monkey paws on S-94. :uhm:

I really liked how the movie looked. It really felt like I was watching a movie from the 80s. Some of the camera shots were really cool as well. Other than that though, it wasn't anything new. I like slow movies that build and build, but this didn't build to anything. They told us what to expect from the opening scene, and then had the main girl walk around for 70 minutes. *shrug* Just my opinion. I just was expecting so much more from reading people's comments about it. One person said she wished that more movies where made like this.

I'm sure you already know, but I was only kidding about the not listening to you guys. I also would have gone for the traditional CoSDS insult and said 'cunts' but I don't think I've paid my dues here yet so I settled for 'commies'.

Anyway, no need to defend your take on House of the Devil. I can actually see why people don't like it, mostly for the reason you and Carlos said, that nothing really goes on for about 70 minutes of the movie.

I think the reason I was able to enjoy it is because I was expecting the worst as by the time I watched it I heard nothing but bad things about it. Still, I don't think that it's a great movie by any means but I found it to be a decent enough little flick with a solid atmosphere.

Probably.  lol

Currently watching White Rose Campus: Then Everybody Gets Raped, because if you're going to start your day with a flick, you might as well start your day with a rape flick.

Plus it's never not funny that they actually have a set of the girls get pissed about not being raped because they were considered ugly by the thugs.

I viddied it last night and enjoyed the Hell out of it. Sure some things could have been done better... more this, less that... but as a whole I was entertained.

Regarding Kat's comment re: the buildup... at least this film actually built up to an amusing climax unlike say, Polanski's abortion of a film that shall remain nameless. Plus: This one didn't have an annoying shrew shrieking at a phone booth for an hour and a half.

The Final Destination

[REC]

The Crazies ('10) -- I haven't seen the original in years, but I dug the shit out of this remake. It wasn't amazing, but it was an enjoyable flick. Some of the cinematography annoyed the shit out of me: occasionally the camera would pan around too quick and shit would get all blurry, sometimes there was that shaky cam shit going on...I couldn't tell if it was intentional for effect, but it was a bit dizzying. Timothy Olymphant was damn good as usual and I still believe that dude to be totally underrated as an actor.

haha *shrug* I think I just was expecting too much with all the hype I was reading about from cunts on facebook who will remain nameless. It just could have been a lot shorter and something more in the middle, and not be so damn predictable. I didn't hate it by any means, but I didn't think it was the best fucking movie in years either.
