I don't know much about Valentine. Watched a bit of his stuff here and there. And it was just soulless shock-cinema from what little I've viddied. Plus, seeing Valentine promoting his stuff at various boards in a very condescending manner didn't exactly make me jump outta my chair to seek his shit out either. Also...the pseudonym: Lucifer Valentine. Really? Sounds like something I'd come up with when creating an internet moniker at the ripe old age of 14...the height of my teenage angst. Of course, I settled with suecide_note at the time

And if I may, I'd like to know a couple more things about the picture.
Are you intending on making your money back? A DVD package? Or will you just sell a stream for it online? Offer it for free with the option of donation towards your next project?
How long have you been working on this? And what was the budget after all was said and done?

Not to answer for Ronny but the comparison has happened on a couple of forums from people who either viewed the trailer for his previous short film My Monster or from the people who bought his limited DVD collection of his past films:



Several people came back after watching the movies and compared them to the work of LV, which is insulting to him since his views on the man are similar to yours.

Looks very interesting. Of course, this small snippet doesn't provide much in the way of what to expect from the final product. But it has a nice, eerie sort of vibe to it. I look forward to seeing what it's all about. Best of luck.

I think I answered some of those questions earlier in the thread, but I'm not expecting to get my money back (I didn't get a sponsor so getting the money back would be awesome though), and I won't be releasing this myself as I did that with "Experimental Films From The Lense of a Shitty Camcorder" and it's just not worth it. Selling online streaming is something I really don't like, I'd rather give it out for free really. I think in the end it will get a DVD release somehow, and also send to festivals.

I have worked on this a bit less than 2 months. The budget isn't that much really, about $600 maybe. Haven't taken the time to look through it all yet.

Also, yes, I have been compared to LVs work and I hate it, because there's really nothing we do the same except for the fact that we do experimental stuff.

That's basicly what I meant with "attempt". There is no other thought behind his films than he wanting to make a shocking film.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I can't seem to find a gross out factor in his films even. Which is odd seeing how that's all they should have.

Far from it, I just find it silly.

EDIT: Should add that's what I mean, it's odd that I'm not even disgusted by that, since puke generally should do that. But in these cases it doesn't affect me, it just becomes, like I said, silly.
