Wouldn't say undereducated, but in Stockholm they have this annoyingly strict and "articulate" accent. Way up north could probably be compared to the US Southerns. My accent is Swedish with some Norwegian influences. Down in the way south they have this weird Danish kind of Swedish. So way north and way south are probably the hardest to understand for others.

How'd the premier go, Meta? What kind of theatre was it held in? What kind of crowd attended? What was the response?

I would call it a poor world premiere. There are very little people at the convention overall, imagine that it was even less on all of the movies (only 14 film passes were sold). It was fucking stupid. Not to mention the DVD player started screwing up before the end so it froze and people thought it was over so they started clapping, and then they realized the player was stupid, etc. Needless to say I got menstrual and left cause it just annoyed me so much. But I got great response from those who saw it afterwards atleast.

It was a standard theatre, I guess. Not sure how a standard is over there, but standard for Sweden atleast.

It was cool to see it on the big screen, but I am just looking forward to sending it to the US and whatever other country I can now, along with reviewers.

EDIT: The review above made my weekend more than the premiere :thumbs:

I took a bunch of acid in hopes that I could see the resemblance between Recompence's artwork and Lucifer Valentine's. I still couldn't see it.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm not sure where the likeness to Hussain comes from other than the whole 'arthouse meets gore' thing. I personally don't see it in terms of look, style or anything else.

I don't see the likeness either, but being compared to others than Lynch and LV always makes me thumbs-upsy.

I like Hussain so there might be unintentional influences, but there are films with much stronger influences on Récompence, such as Genesis, Extase de Chair Brisée, PIG. Hell, even Cinema of Transgression is bigger influence than Hussain. You can also find Evil Dead if you consider the fact that it will always influence my films.

Begotten is often compared, I've noticed. This is because people can't see stark black and white films without drawing it to Begotten ::) Really though, I dislike Begotten, it's a bad movie, and I didn't actually see it until I was already working on Récompence. With that said, there is something that could be considered an influence. But comparing the entire film to it I don't get.
