Quentin Tarantino wants Britney Spears to play a "raunchy" killer in a remake of soft-porn classic 'Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!'.

The controversial director is desperate to cast the troubled singer in a "sexier" version of the 1965 movie, alongside Eva Mendes and reality TV star Kim Kardashian.

Quentin said: "I love the film - what's better than a movie which has three strippers going on a killing spree in the desert?

"It would be great to do a remake, and casting would be easy. Top of my hit list would be Kim Kardashian and Eva Mendes. And you know what, I think Britney Spears could really work in this film. I'd love to get her involved."

It would not be Britney's first acting role. In 2002, she starred as aspiring singer Lucy Wagner in teen movie 'Crossroads'.

Tarantino has developed a reputation for helping star names resurrect their careers.

John Travolta credits his role as hitman Vincent Vega in 1994 movie 'Pulp Fiction' with making him "cool again", while Daryl Hannah's ailing Hollywood career was rejuvenated by her role in 2003's 'Kill Bill'.

The original 'Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!' was directed by the late Russ Meyer, who is famous for his outlandish 'sexploitation' movies which include 'Supervixens' and 'Erotica'.

Dimension has delayed the release of their Hellraiser remake until 2009 and according to Bloody Disgusting, the reason for the delay is they weren't completely happy with Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury's screenplay and have decided to take the film to other writers. The French duo is still attached to helm the pic.

** THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake: Fangoria Radio spoke to genre veteran Wes Craven not long ago, and the filmmaker gave them an update on his LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake, which he revealed Rogue Pictures will begin shooting in South Africa (recent home to his production of THE BREED, as well as Neil Marshall’s Rogue project DOOMSDAY) in January. Craven noted that Greek director Dennis (HARDCORE) Illiadis is “very talented,” and when asked why his recent spate of remakes and sequels to remakes (!) have utilized foreign-born directors like THE HILLS HAVE EYES’ Alexandre Aja, THE HILLS HAVE EYES II’s Martin Weisz and now LAST HOUSE’s Illiadis, he cited budgetary concerns: “They are not DGA directors, so we don’t have to make the films under DGA guidelines. Productions become more expensive when you have to add on assistant directors, 2nd assistant directors, etc.”

In terms of directorial gigs, Craven is mulling an offer to helm an episode of Mick Garris’ FEAR ITSELF (currently in jeopardy because of the writers’ strike) and has also written an untitled thriller that he wants to direct, which Craven calls “very unusual and personal. Also, get ready to laugh at the idea that the film is going to be more brutal than the original, only the daughter won't be raped or killed - and the last house on the left is on the lake... what?! I'm confused.

** THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake: Variety reports that Martha MacIsaac, Riki Lindhome, Garret Dillahunt and Rhys Coiro will star in the remake of Wes Craven's LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT that rolls March 24 for Rogue Pictures. MacIsaac, who played Michael Cera's girlfriend in SUPERBAD, and Lindhome, who was in the Craven-co-scripted PULSE update, play a pair of teen girls who are viciously attacked by Krug (Dillahunt, currently on screens as Wendell in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN) and his gang of miscreants. In a sign that this redux is being toned down somewhat from Craven's original, the trade notes that one girl's parents wind up unwittingly giving shelter to the baddies who have "nearly" killed their daughter. Craven, his Midnight Pictures partner Marianne Maddalena and his original producer Sean S. Cunningham serve as producers on the new LAST HOUSE, which the trade says will be "more realistic" than the earlier film. Dennis Iliadis will direct from a script by Adam Alleca on locations in...
